While everyone gathered with family and gorged themselves, the production of my short film Night pressed on. The final two scenes were shot the day before and after thanksgiving, wrapping the shooting for the film at 9pm on Friday.
On Wed., I was able to shoot i the lobby of Sealed Air's Danbury location (pictured above). As employees filed out, we scoped out the location and set up lights. The location was perfect for the setting of the scene. I was fortunate enough to find a last minute crew and actor for the doctor role. Brian and Sean Wiedl helped out a great deal setting lights and creating the scened. Kenny Sciuto stepped in last minute as the doctor and fit the role perfectly. Besides having to change a few light bulbs and move lights to make way for Sealed Air's cleaning crew, the shoot on wed. went relatively smooth. Friday worked out quite differently.
For Friday's shoot, I set out to begin shooting at 4. I made it to my location around this time and began to set up. A good amount of set prep needed to be done since I was attempting to convert my friend Shane Moeller's basement into a hospital room. The location worked out better than I imagined; however, the entire scene had to be shot rather tight. As Shane and I finished up dressing the set, I received a phone call from my actor Mike Wiedl, who informed me that his car had broken down. Thankfully he was able to make it to the location that night, but delayed the shoot by two hours. Once Mike arrived we began to light the set. Due to the small area and abundance of white, lighting was far more difficult than anticipated. Shooting the one short scene took nearly a hour. The shoot went much smother from there. At the end of the night, I was extremely pleased with the outlook of each shot.
I was able to compile a few comical shots of Friday's set that depict a completely different image than that captured on the film. Enjoy the pictures and don't forget to check back within the next few weeks for the final product of my short film Night.
